REDWING
Redwing
Analogue Stereo Modulator
We keep calling it a flanger, but it's sooooo much more than that.
Painstakingly brought to fruition by Dan's lifelong sonic desire and Peter Hamstead's incredible design, it is the wobbly wobbler by which all others shall be judged…
start with flange x 2
A very short, 100 per cent analogue BBD delay line, modulated and regenerated on itself. The sound makes Dan go wobbly at the knees, and has done for years.
But why just have one? There are TWO separate BBD lines that you can run stereo, dual mono or wet/dry. Or just mono, of course.
custom waves, hand made
Just like the three waveforms driving its magic tones, Redwing is built from the ground up by Peter Hamstead and his team in the UK. Every pedal exudes peerless quality from circuit assembly through to final testing and setting up.
This is a sonic machine to last a lifetime. Or two. Or three…
CHORUS, VIBRATO & MORE
Increase the delay time on a flanger, get rid of the regen and you have the epic analogue chorus you've heard on so many records. Remove the dry sound, now you have vibrato for pulsating vinyl sounds, pseudo rotary and so much more.
Get that speed ramped up – hello bonkers ring mod tones.
I actually prefer Redwing to my old Electric Mistress!
Dan Says...
“Regular viewers of TPS will know just how nuts I am about great analogue modulation tones.
“It was an encounter with two classic pedals over two decades ago – the Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Electric Mistress and an original Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble – that pretty much changed my whole approach to guitar tone. In fact, they were also a huge part of the inspiration to start my company, TheGigRig, and they continue to inform so much of what I love about about playing and sound to this day.
“Over the years I’ve always searched for devices that not only match the magic of those originals tonally, but also surpass them in terms of sound and functionality within a modern rig. After a long development process - thanks to Peter and Brian at Hamstead - it has finally happened!"
Hamstead Soundworks
Meet the Makers
A British boutique amp and pedal company who design and build all their products in the UK.
Electronic design and engineering is headed up by Peter Hamstead. With a background in avionics and radar and many years in electronic design and development, Peter was the perfect person to make Dan's dream a reality.
Peter has worked across a wide range of projects from audio switching systems for Sony to non-destructive testing equipment for the supersonic Concorde.
Hamstead Soundworks have an approach to pedals and amps which is 'never for the sake if it', but because they always believe there is a better way.
With this in mind Peter undertook the massive challenge of improving on Dan's favourite tonal machines and surpassed all our expectations.
